Are You Sure?

Sunshine Ghost Festival programmes 15+ and 18+ rated horror films, runs scare actors through the venue, and aims for a genuinely spooky atmosphere — rolling fog, lantern light, sideshow performers, things that go bump in the night, and a sinister MC who is absolutely going to single people out from the audience. If your kid is small, or a grown-up kid who doesn't handle scares well, this is not the weekend for them.

Our Recommendation

Younger Attendees (13–15)

We'll welcome accompanied attendees as young as 13 — but only with a parent or guardian present, and only at your discretion. If you bring a 13-year-old, you're the one walking them out of the carousel-of-doom when they want out. Please think honestly about whether your specific kid handles horror well; we're not the people to make that call for you.

Anyone under 13: please leave them with a sitter. There is no version of this festival that's appropriate for a 10-year-old, and we'd rather not have anyone cry at the ringmaster.

What “Properly Spooky” Means Here

• Films. Rated 15+ and 18+ across the weekend. Full programme published closer to the date.
• Live performance. Fire breathers, sword swallowers, contortionists, dark cabaret, a sinister MC, scare actors threaded through the venue.
• Atmosphere. Fog, lantern light, brazier flame, vintage carnival dressing, things that move when you don't expect them to.
• Audience participation. Some of it is light. Some of it less so. If a guy with a (de-fanged, but very loud) chainsaw lunging towards you would absolutely ruin your weekend, this is not the festival for you.

Liability

Sunshine Ghost will not be liable for any wet shorts.

(But seriously: it's your call and your kid. We trust you to know what they can handle. If in doubt, leave them home.)
